William Cannings continues to challenge the physical properties of steel in his most recent sculptural works. No longer satisfied by simply toying with the viewer's perception, Cannings' new body of work pushes the law of gravity and the properties of metal to new extremes. His sophisticated structures appear to rise up from the ground and out from the walls in stacks of lightly elevated pieces that move together to create a weightles composition. With their large scale and lively, metallic coloring, Cannings' freestanding and wall dependent sculptural works create a strange wonderland that is sure to delight, confound and excite even the most critical audience.
